Pre-Game: Game 1 Nationals @ Mets
A quick, but very important, two game set between the Mets and the Nationals coming up tonight. The Mets start the night 1 1/2 games up in the division over the Phillies, and at this point in the year, every game is important. You need to beat teams like the Nationals every time out. This was a huge downfall of the 2007 team, not beating the second tier teams down the stretch. Get'er done!
Lineup:
Reyes, ss
Church, rf
Wright, 3b
Beltran, cf
Delgado, 1b
Tatis, lf
Easley, 2b
Schneider, c
Perez, lhp
I'm kind of getting tired of seeing Tatis in there. He's done a great job for the Mets this year, 10000x more than anyone could of expected, but this isn't Jerry Manuel "Playing the hot hand". Tatis is just 5 for his last 29 with ONE extra base hit.
Manuel could of opted to play Daniel Murphy against Lannan, the lefty, because lefties have hit Lannan harder this year than righties. Or, Manuel could of opted to play Nick Evans, who has a .907 OPS against left handers, more than .200 points higher than Tatis.
But, it's Jerry and Tatis' magic, so, how does 3-3, HR, 3 RBI sound for Tatis?
