Brandon Knight To Start Saturday
Metsblog:
The Mets have announced that 32–year-old, Triple-A RHP Brandon Knight will start on Saturday in place of Pedro Martinez, who has left the team to be with his family.
Since joining the Zephyrs, Knight is 5-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 11 appearances, during which he has struck out 49 batters and walked 10 in 39 innings.
~So from what I understand.. if Knight pitches Saturday for the Mets, he won't be able to pitch for team USA in the 2008 Olympics. Basically, the Mets are taking a career minor leaguer away from what might of been his career moment, to pitch possibly one game for them in the big leagues. Yeah, it's possible that Knight will be the LR pitcher after Saturday's start, but, man, wouldn't it suck for Knight if they DFA'd him after his start Saturday?
